Supporting Warm Front in Bishop Auckland
Bishop Auckland MP Helen Goodman is lending her support to the Warm Front initiative, which helps the most vulnerable members of society to keep warm and stay healthy throughout the winter.
By providing central heating, heat-saving insulation and a range of energy saving benefits, Warm Front tackles fuel poverty and makes homes warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient.
Since its launch in 2000, the Warm Front scheme has benefited 4,960 households in Bishop Auckland, and has seen £3.3 million invested in improving heating in the area.
1,040 households in Bishop Auckland have received new and improved central heating systems, and 3,470 local households have benefited from energy saving insulation measures.
Among those who have benfeited in Bishop Auckland from this scheme are 520 households with children under the age of four, 1472 households receiving Disability Living Allowance, and 2644 households with people over the age of 60.
Helen said: “The Warm Front scheme has my total support. Affordable heating is a basic need, and I am very pleased so many people in Bishop Auckland continue to benefit from this excellent initiative”.
