Working Hard for all in Bishop Auckland

Public meeting on Bishop Auckland General Hospital

Following recent widespread public concern about ward closures at Bishop Auckland General Hospital, Helen has organised a public meeting where the Chief Executive of the local NHS Primary Care Trust, John Saxby will answer questions about the hospital’s future.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 3rd April at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

Helen commented, “Bishop Auckland General Hospital is a vital local asset and the community stands as one in wanting to see its long-term future 100% secure. In all my discussions with local health bosses I have been constantly assured that there is no threat to the hospital. However, people need reassurance, which is why I have been pressing John Saxby to attend a public meeting about this since last year.

“I am very pleased that my constituents will have the opportunity to put questions direct to Mr Saxby – people just need to come along to the Town Hall Tuesday evening. My view is that we want more services provided in Bishop Auckland, not fewer. I will be pressing Mr Saxby on when we will get the single inpatient haematology unit for South Durham & Darlington centralised in Bishop Auckland.”
