KIRK MERRINGTON TREES REPRIEVED

Helen has won an assurance from an electricity distribution company that they will reconsider their proposal to chop down 23 trees on North Close in Kirk Merrington.

Helen says, “Trees can really improve the appearance of a street so I completely understand why local residents are against the plan.

“I took up the matter on behalf of local people with Northern Electricity Distribution Ltd. I am pleased to say the company have agreed to a full re-appraisal of the proposal in both environmental and engineering terms. They have also agreed to consult with Sedgefield Borough Council and residents before commencing with any works.

“I hope now that the company will engage with residents so they can have their say.”
