Working Hard for all in Bishop Auckland

HELEN OUT AND ABOUT IN CONSTITUENCY

Helen has a busy programme of constituency events in the next few days, starting today with a meeting with Durham County Environmental Trust and followed by a session with the Learning and Skills Council to discuss improving opportunities for the local workforce. In the afternoon Helen will be speaking to staff at Remploy in Spennymoor before heading over to Barnard Castle to hear the concerns of local farmers over unfair cuts to milk prices.

Friday finds Helen starting the day at Bishopsgate Medical Centre to hear from DWP Wear Valley Action Team about helping incapacity benefit claimants back to work. She will then be welcoming the opening of a new NHS dental practice in Coundon before meeting up with police chiefs in Bishop Auckland to discuss the fight against crime. Later in the day, Helen will be learning about plans to improve the centre of Bishop Auckland from the town centre forum, and holding an advice surgery in Barnard Castle. In the evening she stays in Barnard Castle for the annual meeting of Teesdale Village Halls and the presentation of an Investors in People Award.

Over the weekend, Helen will be attending the North East conference of the trade union, UNISON. She will also be raising awareness of the issues facing the rural economy through an appearance on BBC TV’s The Politics Show from Barnard Castle.
