HELEN LEADS INQUIRY INTO REMPLOY CLOSURES
Helen is chairing an all-party inquiry into the proposed closure of Remploy factories.
Last Thursday the group heard evidence from the voluntary sector, senior managers and the Minister for Disabled People, Anne McGuire. This week they will be hearing from more charities and a consortium of the Remploy Trade Unions – GMB and T&G.
Helen said ‘I have met the people who work at our factory at Spennymoor and visited them. I believe they have been doing a good job. I said in parliament that I am very worried by the proposals to close this plant as well as the two in Hartlepool and Stockton. I hope this national inquiry will enable us to find a better way forward’
