Helen joins Whips’ Office
Helen has been appointed as an Assistant Government Whip in the Prime Minister’s autumn re-shuffle.
For the past 16 months Helen had been Deputy Leader of the House of Commons, and on October 9 the Leader of the House of Commons, Harriet Harman, paid tribute to Helen’s “excellent” work over this period.
Helen now moves to the Whips Office, headed by Nick Brown, the Minister for the North East and MP for Newcastle East and Wallsend.
Helen said: “I am really pleased to be joining the Whips’ Office, and I am particularly looking forward to working with Nick [Brown], who I know well from our work in the North East.
This is an exciting new challenge, and I will be focusing on delivering the programme that people voted for in the General Election”.
