As well as representing constituents at Westminster, Helen undertakes a number of events, visits and meetings in the constituency. These usually take place on Fridays or whenever Parliament is not sitting.
In recent months, Helen has carried out the following engagements:
- January 2010:
• Opening of new Toy Library at Deerbolt YOI, Barnard Castle
• Signed Charter and gave speech at launch of County Durham Local Government Charter, County Hall.
• Visit to Land Registry Offices, Spennymoor
• Steet Surgery, West Auckland
- December 2009
• Ministerial Visit to Seaham Family Centre
• Held Disability forum in Bishop Auckland
• Visited recipient of Warm Front Grant in St Helen Auckland
• Attended awards presentation at Coundon Children’s Centre
• Took part in AONB Christmas Lights exchange (pictured, right)
• Constituency Surgery, Tudhoe
• Street Surgeries, Leeholme & St Andrew’s Estate
- November 2009
• Meeting at County Hall, Durham, with people who are finding work through the £1 billion Future Jobs Fund.
• Speech to County Council Network Conference, Raddison Hotel, Durham, re. worklessness and local economy.
• Visit to Spennymoor Youth Club (pictured, right)
• Attended opening of new Middlestone Moor Children’s Centre (picture, above right)
• Visit to Woodhouse Close Primary School
