Constituency Caseworker sought for Helen’s Bishop Auckland office

Helen is recruiting a second full-time constituency worker to be based in her constituency office in Bishop Auckland.

The salary is £25,000 per annum, and the closing date for applications is Wednesday 9 July for interviews in Bishop Auckland on Friday 18 July.

Duties:

• Communication with constituents and local community organisations, possible including volunteers
• Liaise with government agencies, political parties etc
• Handling regional media, printers and distribution firms
• Data management – record keeping of client contact
• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
• Organize surgeries
• Oversee budgets
• Other duties as necessary

Person specification:

• Track record of successful work for a member of parliament
• Experience of locally based communication strategies
• Well-organized and practical
• First-rate communications skills – both written and oral
• Understanding of the Labour party and trade union movement
• Hard working and reliable
• Good IT skills, knowledge of Caseworker, Printmaker, Mosaic etc
• Able to work under own initiative with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of County Durham would be an advantage
• Degree qualification desirable
• Driver and clean driving license essential
